Race Across Maryland

Wed June 15 - Wed August 31 Anywhere, MD 21075 US

Description

Maryland is one of the smallest states (42nd in terms of square miles) but Free Stater's have BIG HEARTS and are always up for a challenge. Well, do we ever have a challenge for you!  We dare you to take the  VIRTUAL TREK across Maryland  while raising funds for a very worthy cause!  Within 60 days your mission is to travel 250 miles, the distance (as a crow flies) across Maryland from West to East.  Or if you are more of an Up & Down kind of person, cover 100 miles, the width of the state from  North to South.

You can take this trek on foot -- run, jog, or walk on the road, on the trail, on the treadmill, at the gym or on the track; or on a bike-- outside or inside. You get to complete your own race, at your own pace, and time it yourself.

In an eye on helping Maryland's small businesses get back on their feet, we will take some of the proceeds from the event and buy gift certificates and other "stuff" and use them as prizes and rewards and help those Maryland companies. This year, we will focus on brew and bakery businesses to add to the excitement. Your job will be to use your prizes and gift certificates and bring a friend or two when you do!

We also encourage you to make a donation to one of our charitable organizations and seek additional donations from friend and family on behalf of your efforts.  What better way to keep you motivated to run each day then knowing that you are doing good not only for you body and metal health but also for your community.

Each participant gets the following items each with the event logo:

  • A printable race bib
  • A sweet beach towel premium
  • A finisher's medal
  • Digital milestone badges
  • Entries into raffle and random prize drawings
  • A printable finisher certificate
  • That blessed feeling of helping those in need.

YOU CAN DO IT!

  • 250 Miles is 4.16 miles per day for 60 days or 5 miles per day with 10 days off
  • 100 Miles is 1.67 miles per day for 60 days or 2 miles per day with 10 days off

Participants will have access to a website to record their results each day.  Here you will be able to view a leaderboard and see where you stand against others in the challenge.
